About Me
I’m Richard Baron, a senior mechanical engineer focused on turning bold ideas into flight/production-ready hardware.
At Vast Space, I lead the design and delivery of the Haven-1 Space Station battery system—a 50 kWh crew-rated Li-ion system built fully in-house. I also develop space-rated avionics hardware and work hands-on from CAD to test.
Previously at Outpost Space, I helped invent and fly a high-altitude paraglider recovery system for spacecraft. I’ve also built satellites from scratch, developed carbon composite structures at Specialized, and led test campaigns around the world.
I like to design to the “shall’s,” not the “should’s,” apply rigor where it counts, and move fast where it doesn’t.
